What is Enviro Mentality?
There can be little dispute that humanity is currently engulfed in a cauldron of crises. We stand poised at a critical juncture, and yet, too often we find ourselves frozen, unable to make the changes necessary to steer our sinking ship to safety.
A crucial catalyst of these crises is the false narrative we’ve been fed for millennia that humans are an innately selfish, rivalrous species. This belief has served as fuel to fan the flames of harmful social paradigms that range from individualism and consumerism to exploitation and extraction. This pursuit of ‘progress' has caused us to lose our foothold in the natural world and, as such, our footing on our human nature.
So, nowadays we are burnt out and battling to stay afloat, disconnected from our true selves and, to cap it all, walk with a deep-seated belief that we are inherently wicked and thus these calamities are merely the inevitable outcome of our evolution.
How can we expect to revolutionise our world under these conditions?
Well, we can’t, which is why Enviro Mentality seeks to restore our health and humanity through reconnection three things:
Soil - by deepening our connection with nature and receiving all of its extraordinary benefits.
Self - by coming back to ourselves, honouring our body, natural rhythms, needs and desires.
Society - by engaging meaningfully and cultivating belonging within our personal communities and wider networks.
What do I do?
I believe my work is to plant seeds of consciousness in the hearts and minds of individuals. I do this by conducting workshops and through my poetry, blog posts, social media. The aim is to facilitate discussion and stimulate introspection around the most important issues of our time, as well as provide practical solutions and guidance on how to reconnect to Soil, Self and Society.
Ultimately, the objective is to help you develop your Enviro Mentality so that together we can lift humanity and create a better reality.
Who am I?
My name is Niamh (pronounced Neev), I've recently turned 30 and I’m Australian born with Irish blood. I like to travel, try new things and follow my dreams, which is how I ended up here.
I always knew I wanted to help the world somehow and once I had developed a fiery passion for the environment, it became my goal to help ‘fight climate change’. In Jan 2023, I quit my job and went solo travelling across the world, on a mission to figure out exactly how I was going to do that.
Pretty quickly I realised that this project, Enviro Mentality, was what I was meant to do. I also realised that the problems we face reach far beyond just ‘the environment’ and my mission exploded into a desire to help heal humanity and lift us out of this dark hole. I believe this starts with simply remembering that our human nature is to be just that - in nature.
