What is the Emotion Code?
The Emotion Code is a non-invasive healing technique developed by Dr Bradley Nelson. It allows me to use muscle testing to find and release trapped emotions that, when not properly processed, become stored in the body and can cause emotional and physical imbalances.
We all have trapped emotions, particularly now in modern society as we are often forced to suppress our true feelings and certainly aren’t taught how to process them in a healthy way. These emotions become trapped and, over the years, they continue to build up, causing us to feel overwhelmed by certain emotions and/or manifesting as a physical illness.
Our emotions, which are little balls of energy, can become trapped anywhere in our body but sometimes they gather specifically around our hearts to form a Heart Wall.
What is a Heart Wall?
A Heart Wall is a group of emotions that have become trapped specifically around your heart. Because we live in a challenging, often cruel, society, it’s normal that we trap emotions around our hearts to stop us from feeling so vulnerable. The Heart Wall acts as a means of protection during tough times.
However, there is a downside to shutting off our emotions. When we become numb, it becomes difficult to feel positive emotions like joy and love and affects the heart-brain connection which is vital for intuition, empathy and emotional intelligence.
Most crucially, it inhibits vulnerability. Why is this important? Often seen as a weakness, vulnerability is actually a profound strength and a fundamental part of human connection. Renowned researcher, Brene Brown, explains that when we open ourselves up and allow others to see our imperfections, it builds trust and genuine connection, as well as fosters creativity, hope, courage and belonging.
Why is this work important?
Where do I even begin?! On an individual level, removing trapped emotions can transform your life in countless ways. Think about it…how has uncontrolled anger harmed you or someone you know? How has crippling fear or anxiety stopped your from living your life? Does past trauma ever rear its ugly head and hold you back from experiencing true love and connection? My personal experience
I discovered the Emotion Code while living on a permaculture farm on South Africa’s Wild Coast. I’d been doing a lot of soul searching, a lot of inner work, when I realised I had a blockage around my heart. Seeing as I was ready and waiting to meet “the one”, I wanted to deal with it quick smart.
Not long later, while reading the PDF of a retreat I had joined, I learned that the facilitator was trained in a modality that could release trapped emotions. Bingo! I booked an over-the-phone session, which I thought was weird, but I decided to trust her.
And wow, I’m so glad I did. During the session she found that I had a “heart wall” (just as I’d suspected) which was blocking me from truly feeling my emotions. She released so much sadness, grief and heartache that I didn’t even know I was carrying, as well as a number of emotions that I’d inherited from my father, and many generations before him, that had been passed down through the years.
For a few days after the session I felt a bit wobbly and indecisive. When things settled down I noticed I was suddenly able to relate to children, I felt more free and open and when I danced I could physically feel that my chest area felt lighter and more flexible.
I thought it was the coolest thing in the world and that everyone should have access to this kind of healing, but I wasn’t sure that I was capable or worthy enough. A few months later, I plucked up the courage to study and become a practitioner and, well, here we are!

Sometimes we feel an emotion intensely and instead of processing and releasing it, we ignore or suppress it, causing it to become trapped. It’s likely that all of us have hundreds of unprocessed, trapped emotions.
The Emotion Code allows us to find and release these emotions stored in the body that may be affecting your emotional and physical well-being.
Using muscle testing, a form of biofeedback, I can find the exact trapped emotions that are contributing to your specified problem. Once identified, these emotions are released using magnetic energy, restoring balance and allowing your body and mind to heal naturally.

In a typical session, we will first discuss the issue that you wish to work on. I will then connect to your subconcious (sounds complicated but it’s not, and I promise I can’t read your mind!) and, using muscle testing and a series of ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions, I will find and release a trapped emotions pertaining to your issue. The process is then repeated, as each emotion is removed individually, until we have released up to 10 trapped emotions.
This technique is extremely non-invasive. You’re not required to relive your trauma or really do anything at all! Generally, I can find and release each emotion in a matter of minutes with no further digging required. Occassionally, you will be asked to delve deeper and reflect on how or why an emotion became trapped before it can be released.
The first session will last about 1 hour and subsequent sessions could last as little as 30 minutes. It is done entirely by proxy so can easily be done online.

Your body will generally take 1-3 days to process the emotions that were removed. For the most part, this goes entirely unnoticed, however, you may feel a little tired, emotional or out of sorts. It’s recommended that you drink a lot of water, stay grounded and try your best to avoid stressful situations.
Once you’ve finished processing, you should notice a positive difference. You might feel lighter, calmer, less tense, burdened or overwhelmed or have reduced physical pain. Really, you should notice a positive difference in the area of your life that we worked on during the session.
