Curiosity Killed The Cat

A rescued kitty named Diablo. Veracruz, Mexico

Curiosity killed the cat they say

Well how ‘bout that

What an interesting way

To convince us all

To remain small

To curl into a ball

And keep our inquiry at bay

It’s like they did it on purpose

To murky the waters

To stop us from prying

Or even trying

To seek, to find

To question mankind

To marvel, to wonder

To sit in sonder

Curiosity is expansive

It’s a space that we can dance in

A place where we can dip our toes

And see where our heart goes

To see what draws us, delights us

What makes us awe struck

What raw materials we can use

To ignite something new

Being suspended in uncertainty

Can be an awkward place to be

But you see

That space between

Poised by intrigue

Well, it’s where is essence is

It’s the part that makes life blessed cos

What we don’t know is where the fun is

And finding out is what our purpose is

Learning, growing, playing, sowing

Seeds that nourish

Our inquisitive minds

Seeds that flourish

In these hearts of mine

and yours

 Just know that being unsure

Is so much more

Than you think

It brings you to the brink

Your edge is where you find the answers

The ledge is where you jump

Into the deep

Awake from sleep

Take a leap of faith

It changes your brain

Better focus, memory

Less anxiety, more receptivity

All the things that technology

Took and made fuzzy

Curiosity killed the cat

Well how ‘bout that

What a story they told us

To curb our boldness

Little did they realise

That deep down we are wise

And we will rise from this slumber

These days of apathy are numbered
