Where The River Flows

A beautiful river I came across in Salento, Colombia’s coffee region

Where the river flows, energy goes

Coming and going

Drip dropping

Rolling and flowing

The water runs over the rocks

Smoothing and sowing

Seeds of newness

Erasing the old

Easing into the fold

Of life

Sometimes a trickle

Sometimes a torrent

Sometimes a place of quiet reflection

Sometimes a place of joy and content

Sometimes a place to bathe and wade

Sometimes a place to sit and vent

To a friend

To white pages

To a bird God sent

The river flows and takes

With it its stagnancy

It’s movement snakes

In and around

Over and up

Through and down

Gathering, marking

Gliding and riding

The wave

Guiding itself to new places

Always ready for new faces

Never stopping, slowing

Never second guessing

Always flowing

We can learn from the river

It’s consistent

It’s persistent

It changes with the seasons

Yet its always ready to deliver

Its promise

It flows unapologetically

To its own rhythm

Creating its own system

Seeing how it best fits in

Providing its own magic

To the cosmos

The river knows

Just how best it flows

Its favourite dance

For its best advance

And from this we must take solace

And embrace

Our own flow

In order to grow
